We begin the episode with Akshara who has been locked away in her room, which as any Indian TV serial lead will do, surrenders herself to the most intense state of boredom imaginable whilst lying down, yet still, she lifts her head and stares at the roof intending to contemplate her entire existence.

Flashbacks flood her brain (and our screens) as she relives all the good ol’ days with Abhimanyu. You know, back when things were simpler, and their biggest problem was deciding whose family was more dramatic.

Of course, this is Yeh Rishta, so Akshara doesn’t just have one flashback. Nope, we’re treated to an entire highlight reel of “happier times,” which, to be honest, feels like a ‘best of’ season special. She paces around her room like she’s figuring out how to solve a Rubik’s cube, but we all know it’s just her feelings she’s trying to untangle. Spoiler: It’s not going great.

His colleagues must be confused, pondering why their “super focused” head honcho has morphed into a man on a long pause wondering how to operate a stapler.

Abhimanyu is practically shouting in their mind, “What the hell! Why is romantic love much more complicated than med School?!” He keeps thinking about the latest fight he had with Akshara and then thinks it is not such a bad thing that they had an argument, especially for him in particular. Someone please give this man some tough love…or call him over for a talk.

Dad Mode Activated: Manish to the Rescue

Back at the Goenka mansion, the fam is preparing for yet another event (as if they don’t have enough drama without parties). But Manish has his “super dad senses” tingling. He notices Akshara isn’t her usual chirpy self (which, to be fair, hasn’t been the case for a while), and being the wise father figure, he decides to have the talk.

Echoes of silence hang overhead, so much so that if someone concentrates, the sound of crickets in the background is highly audible upon his arrival. Akshara and Abhimanyu stand there like two people who just accidentally bumped into each other at the grocery store after swearing they’d never talk again. Someone please break the ice!

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai The Big Confrontation (Finally)

After what feels like 300 years, Abhimanyu speaks up. He admits he’s been a terrible husband lately, neglecting her for work (no surprise there), and apologizes. Akshara listens, giving him the patented “I’m listening but I’m also furious” face. She lays it out straight—she’s felt like his second priority, like she’s been living in the background of his very busy, very successful life. Ouch. It’s a valid point though, Abhi!

Both of them rush out, forgetting their relationship woes for the moment because, well, parenting crisis mode has been activated. When they arrive at the school, Abhir is there looking a bit shaken but mostly fine. Honestly, the kid is just loving all the attention.

Akshara and Abhimanyu hover over him like two overprotective helicopters, but it’s clear this minor accident is a major wake-up call for them. As parents, they realize that whatever their issues may be, they’ve got to be there for their son. Talk about perspective, right?

Akshara would likely several steps backwards and chastise him whilst pulling her hand away under normal situations, however today, she allows it to happen. She looks at him with those eyes which are suggestive of hope, “Perhaps there still stands a chance.”

It’s a tiny gesture, but it says a lot. Maybe they’re not as broken as they thought. Maybe there’s still hope for a reconciliation. Or maybe they just forgot to argue for five seconds. Either way, it’s progress, people!
